Creative Gladstone Region Inc. (CGRI) is a not-for-profit incorporated body. It was formed to establish an arts centre in Gladstone in 2011.
CGRI is urgently in need of a new roof and are asking Gladstone and Central Queensland community and businesses to please help.
Creative Gladstone Region Inc. trading as ARTmatters need $,000.00 to replace the roof on their 3 Pitt Street gallery and retail venue.
Our gallery and workshop space 'ARTmatters' in Pitt Street, Gladstone, welcomes and caters for the diverse needs of people, both young and old. The aim is to bring together visual artists and artisans with the purpose of forming a vibrant art community and to provide them with a centre in which to socialise, network, develop their skills and promote and sell their creations.
We run a range of events and activities including art classes, workshops, educational and networking events for all ages. The organisation is run 100% by volunteers and relies on the generosity of its sponsors and partners. The venue holds Gladstones Twilight Markets every three months, offering local arts and craft businesses space to sell their wares, we have live music, food stall and a bar facility for visitors.
“Late last year we received a grant from Gladstone and Calliope Bendigo Community Bank to replace the kitchen and outdoor roof area, now we need to replace the roof over the gallery, workshop and office areas”, President Jenny Hansen says.
“When it rains, we have to place buckets and towels throughout the venue and move artworks from display areas, so they don’t get damaged”.
“We have been very lucky so far that no major damage has been caused, however the roof rust is getting worse, and the holes are getting bigger and more of them. We have had repairs done in the past, but it is now time for a new roof.”
Creative Gladstone Region Inc. is a registered DGR organisation, donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
We are asking community individuals, small and large businesses to give whatever they can.
